William Faulkner once stated, "You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore."


The Backdrop

Many years ago, I envisioned owning a consulting firm focused on the idea that when an organization has an established Vision, Mission, and Values, or similar guideposts, the operating culture needs to align.


Far-fetched? Not really. 


Too many organizations lose a healthy culture while trying to outdo the competition and remain sustainable.


Is it any wonder employees are taking more mental health days than ever before?


When left to their own devices, cultures... and the employees within... can breed toxicity. 


Incessant unchecked competition and lack of holding individuals accountable within the workplace puts the entire culture at risk. Is there a solution?


Not a uniform one...


My Experience

Over the last 32 years, I have spent time in a variety of industry cultures. Some more healthy than others. I have served in the Manufacturing, Construction, Non-profit, and Healthcare/Behavioral Healthcare sectors (with briefer stints in Restaurant and Retail).


Though each sector has their own uniqueness, one aspect remains constant. The human connection.


The human connection - and how humans are treating each other in the workplace - is a critical underpinning to a healthy culture. Does this come as a surprise?


Likely not.


Besides working in various industries, I have held both executive leadership as well as contributor roles in key functional areas including Risk Management/Safety, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources.


The one constant is human connection.


My Education

In addition to the experience of living in recovery for the last 21 years - which requires an education in and of itself - I completed an undergrad in Organizational Administration (Business, Communication, Sociology), and an MBA.


I have been certified as a facilitator in both DDI and DiSC (iykyk) and utilize this knowledge on a daily basis.


While the education I received is a key component to me understanding foundations of organizational culture, nothing compares with real-world experience... 


My Resolve

With that being said, my resolve is to go out fighting this human connection battle through the creation of Vision2Success, LLC.


While I know Vision2Success will undergo evolution as the organization grows, the overarching mantra is “Enhancing culture-building dialogue.”


Aligning the culture-building dialogue with the organization’s vision, mission, and values in order to achieve organizational transformation and growth through healthy human connection is where it is at.
